Firstly, we hope you like our new look over here at Our Italian Table! Joey, besides being such an amazing brother and cook, is now our resident web designer and has been busily updating our look. We would love to hear from you if you do like it!
And our wandering continues. After spending the last few weeks (virtually) wandering about Friuli Venezia-Giulia, we are headed for warmer climes as our next ‘regione’ of focus. Off to Sicily! My magical Sicily….an island that I hold forever in my heart. This is the land of our maternal grandparents, the land of sparkling blue seas and black lava flows, the land where I fell in love (then fell out, then fell in, then fell out – more on all that later :o). And this is my type of cooking….eggplant, lemons and capers; wild fennel, blood oranges and tomatoes; swordfish, anchovies and sardines. My mouth waters just typing that list. And the vines and wines of Sicilia, subject to sea breezes, volcanic eruptions and wildly erratic weather, have only just come into their own. So much to explore on this magical island….so join us at the Table as we venture south, bringing to life this island’s wonderful and vibrant mix of influences and traditions…..a presto!!
