The Islands of Italy

Sardinia April 08
Sardinia April 08

The islands of Italy are as diverse as mainland Italy itself. I am currently on a mission to visit as many of these beautiful and mysterious islands as possible.  It all started with a love affair – a love for both Sicilia and a Sicilian.  (But all that on another day!)  After spending many days and weeks on this amazing island, I decided to venture out to see what the other islands were like -spurred on by the romantic yet hopeless portrait painted by D. H. Lawrence in ‘Sea and Sardinia’.  I will be writing blogs over the coming months about these wanderings so please check back often.  I visited Sardinia in April and fell in love with the amazingly gentle people living there. Lots of blogs and recipes on the way. Next off to windswept Pantelleria – home of the magnificent caperi (caper berry) – which lies closer to Tunisia than Italy in the shadow of its parent, Sicilia.  Will have lots to report when I return in September.  I look forward to having you join me on these journeys! Ci vediamo presto – see you soon!
