Michele and I had lunch today before the big event at probably the best Italian seafood restaurant in NYC – Marea (Marea-NYC.com) which means “tide” in Italian. This is the second time I’ve eaten here and it was recommended by our friend Jeremy Parzen at dobianchi.com
For lunch they have a two-course business lunch and I found the food to exceptional!!
For the primo, I had a warm octopus salad with potatoes. There’s a lot of octopus salads on menus today but what made this one special was the medley of potatoes that were smoky and the pickled red onions.
For a secondo, I had the strozzapreti with crab, tomato and sea urchin. As good as this would have been with just crabmeat, the addition if the sea urchin gave the the dish a briny seawater quality and the freshly made strozzapreti was excellent!!
